WILLEMSTAD - The Curaçao Medical Center (CMC) has initiated summary proceedings against Minister Javier Silvania (MFK) of Health, Environment, and Nature (GMN), according to a spokesperson from the CMC.
The CMC specialists aim to challenge the National Ordinance Norming Top Incomes through legal action, seeking its repeal. They are frustrated by the lack of response to their letters and have decided not to engage in discussions with the minister until their concerns are addressed.
In one of his letters, Silvania expressed his desire for an impartial investigation into specialist remuneration in order to establish a fair salary. He also indicated a willingness to explore solutions, but stressed the need to consider reforms and improvements in the overall healthcare system.
Despite the minister's invitation for a meeting on Monday afternoon, which he explicitly extended to the specialists, they insisted on receiving a response to their letters first. As a result, the meeting did not take place.
The specialists are now awaiting the summary proceedings scheduled for May 31st.
