Students score higher than 7 in Papiamentu in EFO final exam

Local | By Correspondent October 11, 2024

WILLEMSTAD - Students scored an average of over seven for Papiamentu in the End of Primary Education Test (EFO), according to the EFO Report for the academic year 2023-2024.

Education Minister Sithree van Heydoorn announced the results. In comparison, students scored just below or slightly above a six in the subjects of Dutch and mathematics. The EFO exam, together with school recommendations, determines the student's placement in further education.

The report is based on raw data from previous years. When analyzing these scores, the N-value, used to determine the grade scale for each subject, must be considered. The higher the N-value, the more lenient the grading scale has been.

For Papiamentu, students scored an average between 7.05 and 7.47, with an N-value ranging from 1 to 1.5. Dutch results were lower, with an average between 5.53 and 6.05, with a higher N-value between 1.5 and 2. However, the average scores for both languages are higher than in the past two years.
