WILLEMSTAD - The number of burglaries has increased sharply in the past month compared to the rest of the year. This is apparent from the figures published by the Curaçao police for the month of October.
The number of reports of so-called high-impact crimes has risen sharply in the last two months. Last summer, the police received an average of 100 reports of domestic burglaries, but this has risen sharply in the last two months to more than 175.
The police had to show up 65 times as opposed to 63 times in the summer. Last month, the number of reports nearly doubled from twenty-four to forty-four. The number of reported car break-ins has increased slightly. Thirty-one reports were made in October, which, according to the police, is fairly stable throughout the year.
