Start large-scale traffic survey in Curaçao

WILLEMSTAD - The Ministry of Transport, Traffic and Spatial Planning and the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) are starting a large-scale traffic survey on Curaçao today.

With the aid of various methods, insight will be gained over the next two months into the intensity of traffic, traffic flow and the different vehicle categories that use the roads on Curaçao. This also looks at the impact of accidents on traffic flow.

For road users, the pressure hoses, which are stretched over the road surface in more than 40 locations, will be a visible part of traffic research. The results of the traffic investigation will become available in March 2019 and will be used for the planning and prioritization of maintenance, and possibly the adaptation and construction of roads on Curaçao.

The results are also used where necessary to improve the mobility policy.
