WILLEMSTAD - The SDK Stadium in Brievengat is set to receive a brand-new artificial turf field. This long-anticipated project aims to elevate the stadium to international standards with a high-quality playing surface that is nearly indistinguishable from natural grass.
The turf will be supplied by Greenfields, a reputable provider that has previously installed turf at sports facilities in the Netherlands and Spain. Once completed, Curaçao will boast the first stadium in the region with Greenfields' premium turf. The installation will be carried out by Curaçao Wegenbouw.
According to a Greenfields representative, the artificial turf is highly modern and requires significantly less maintenance compared to traditional grass fields. Additionally, the outdated black rubber base layer commonly seen on older fields in Curaçao will be replaced. The new field will come with an eight-year warranty.
The installation is expected to be completed before the Curaçao national football team's match on November 15, with a deadline set for November 10 to allow FIFA ample time to approve the field installation.
