WILLEMSTAD - This week, police arrested a man who threatened a family doctor in Muizenberg. The suspect, identified as M., allegedly made threats against the doctor following the death of his father, who was being cared for in a local healthcare facility.
The incident occurred on August 14 when the suspect threatened the doctor with violence, claiming he would enlist three individuals to attack the physician. A few days later, on August 18, the doctor encountered the suspect again during a visit to the healthcare facility where the suspect's father was in critical condition. The suspect stormed into the room and threatened the doctor with physical harm. Despite efforts from bystanders to intervene, the suspect continued his threats.
On August 20, the suspect visited the doctor’s practice in Muizenberg, causing another disturbance and issuing further threats. The situation escalated to the point where the doctor was forced to temporarily close his practice and refer patients to colleagues in the area. Despite multiple reports to the police, the suspect was only arrested this week, over two weeks after the first complaint.
The doctor, fearing for his safety, felt compelled to hire security for protection. The suspect, who works at a major bank in Skalo, remains in custody while the investigation continues.
