WILLEMSTAD – A soldier from the Royal Netherlands Army has been found dead at Parera Naval Base on Curaçao, according to a brief statement from the Ministry of Defense. The soldier was discovered this morning in the barracks room of the base.
The soldier’s family has been informed. The deceased was a member of the 11th Airmobile Brigade, part of the so-called "Compagnie in de West" stationed in the Caribbean.
The Royal Netherlands Marechaussee is currently investigating the cause of death. Defense authorities have stated that no further comments will be made regarding the incident until the investigation is complete.
