WILLEMSTAD - On February 8, 2020, SOAW, MEO and CHATA held a registration day for the unemployed and those interested in a job in the hospitality sector. The registration day was between 9 am and 2 pm at ICUC, interested people could register for a job in four work disciplines.
Those interested received a message via WhatsApp from SOAW. The disciplines are: service assistant, kitchen assistant, "security" and "housekeeping". More than 100 unemployed people have registered. 57 selected candidates will be interviewed by 11 companies that need employees in the aforementioned disciplines. The selected persons are subdivided into the following categories: 7 safety assistants, 10 operating assistants, 22 kitchen assistants and 18 domestic workers.
In three weeks, the selected people will start the preparation, 1 month of theory, after which they will work in the companies that hired them after the interview. They work for 5 months and receive a salary. After they have received a certificate, they will be able to work for at least another 6 months.
The group of 57 workers starts in tourism alongside the group of 38, which were divided into 2 disciplines on January 22, 2020. The latter group will be included in the companies that selected them during the interview and they will work in these companies with salary for the next 5 months.
The next registration day is 15 February 2020 in Bandabou. SOAW sends a Whatsapp to everyone with the number 59995107629 and other social media. This allows unemployed people in Bandabou to take note of this day and to register. Anyone who has registered but has not received a confirmation via Whatsapp or who has not registered the number in their phone must add this number to their contacts. They will then receive an invitation.
