SANTO DOMINGO - Dominican airline Sky High Aviation has submitted an application to the Civil Aviation Authority of the Dominican Republic to increase their flight frequency to Aruba and Curaçao. This expansion specifically involves the Santo Domingo to Miami route via Aruba and back over Miami to Santo Domingo, with the intention of significantly increasing the number of flights to these destinations.
The application is part of a broader plan by the airline to strengthen connectivity with the Caribbean region.
According to the president of the Junta de Aviación Civil (JAC), who announced the application, a total of 184 round-trip flights are involved. For the aforementioned route, 53 flights have been requested, with a planned frequency of one flight every Wednesday and Saturday. These flights are scheduled from March 1 to September 1 of this year.
Curaçao
A similar request has been submitted for Curaçao, but with flights on Thursday and Sunday. This indicates a growing interest in air connections between the Dominican Republic and the Dutch Caribbean islands.
Sky High Aviation plans to use aircraft types Embraer 175, Embraer 190, and Boeing 737-300 for these routes. The proposed expansion of Sky High Aviation is not only significant for the tourism sector but can also strengthen economic and cultural ties between these regions.
