WILLEMSTAD - Yesterday, the six nominees for the Cross of Merit 2024 were officially announced during a ceremony organized by the Culture and Sports Sector. This highest distinction of Curaçao is awarded annually on July 2, Flag Day, at Plaza Brion.

This year, the nominees are Meyrtha Marie Leetz Cijntje, Martin Humphrey den Dulk, Jeanine Li Fong Ng, Ezequel Augusto Calmes, Anthony Bernabe Curial (represented by Irene Gabriel), and Mafalda Juana Salbach Minguel.
They are recognized for their meritorious activities in social, cultural, and educational fields, with special mention to Martin den Dulk for designing the flag of Curaçao, and Mafalda Salbach Minguel for celebrating her 70th anniversary in the entertainment industry.
During the ceremony, the nominations were officially accepted by the candidates. The official website of the Cross of Merit was also launched. This website, accessible from July 2 at www.krusdimerito.com, provides extensive information about all recipients decorated over the past 20 years.
Last year
Last year, ten people received the Cross of Merit due to its twentieth edition. Among them were Rose Mary Allen, Joyce Adoptie-Treurniet, and Curd Evertz. This year, a maximum of five people can receive the award.
