VALETTA, WILLEMSTAD - Finance Minister Javier Silvania wants to set up a payment institution for the online gaming industry where customers can pay without having a local bank account.
The minister made this known in his speech at the online gambling conference SiGMA Europe.
Silvania is in Malta this week to attend the conference. He indicates that the government is in the process of establishing this and that more details about the institute will be announced later.
The minister says that Curaçao is also working on legislation regarding the online gambling sector, which will be introduced in 2023. According to Silvania, the government is working hard to make the island a 'major player in the online gaming industry'.
