WILLEMSTAD - Javier Silvania, the interim Minister of Health, has expressed readiness to rekindle discussions with medical specialists. This decision comes on the heels of the election of a new board by salaried specialists at CMC (Curaçao Medical Center). With the former leadership now replaced, Silvania believes that negotiations can be reignited, specifically concerning the maximum salaries for specialists. To facilitate these discussions, Silvania plans to establish a dedicated working group.
Apart from deliberating on the regulation of Top Income Standards, the agenda for these upcoming discussions will encompass the crucial topic of healthcare quality. The new board comprises respected professionals from the medical field, including Vanessa Marcha (gynecologist), Igor Gomes Bravio (gynecologist and oncologist), Roxanne Gouverneur (dermatologist), Izyocat Hooker (interventional radiologist), Chanielle Salsbach (internist-oncologist), and Nicole Boye (oncologic surgeon).
It's worth noting that Silvania had encountered significant challenges with the previous chairman, Michel Berry. The Minister had accused Berry of displaying bias and harboring a personal vendetta against him.
