WILLEMSTAD - The government does not agree to the dismissal of the staff of the lottery organization Fundashon Wega di Number Korsou (FWNK) for no good reason. This was stated by Minister of Finance Javier Silvania during a meeting with the trade union Abvo and the management of FWNK.

The civil servants' union Abvo sent a protocol in April in which the preconditions for the reorganization of FWNK are included. However, the management of FWNK has never signed the protocol. The foundation's new collective labor agreement must be finalized before the end of the year, but negotiations can only start once an agreement has been reached on the protocol.
Silvania states that it is no longer of this time to leave employees in uncertainty about their work and income. According to the minister, everyone should be given a chance in the new organization. For example, the staff should follow a training course and be assessed on the basis of a performance interview, before a possible dismissal can be made. “This is the correct and humane way to end an employment contract,” said Silvania.
