WILLEMSTAD - There has been a significant rise in traffic offenses in 2022 compared to the previous year, mainly due to poor behavior on the roads.
In 2021, a total of 38 traffic offenses were recorded. However, in 2022, this number increased dramatically to 64, indicating a substantial increase in violations. This upward trend is also evident in the number of fines issued by the police, which saw a 75% increase with 18,165 citations issued.
The collection department of Paga Bo But has also received a considerable number of fines, totaling around 1.8 million guilders. This substantial figure is primarily attributed to the department's proactive efforts in urging offenders to settle their fines promptly.
