Seventh-day Adventist Leaders Pay Courtesy Visit to Governor of Curaçao

WILLEMSTAD – On Thursday, February 5, 2026, the president of the Dutch Caribbean Union of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, Shurman Kook, paid a courtesy visit to the Governor of Curaçao, His Excellency Mauritsz de Kort. Mr. Kook was accompanied by Calix Ashby, treasurer of the organization.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the close involvement of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Curaçaoan society. Attention was given not only to the church’s religious role, but also to its long-standing contributions in the fields of healthcare and education. The discussion further addressed key social challenges facing the population of Curaçao, how these challenges are currently being addressed, and ways in which support and cooperation could be strengthened in the future.

At the conclusion of the visit, Mr. Kook presented the Governor with two of his publications: Duna Shon Grandi su Honor and Secularism and Religious Emancipation in Curaçao.

The visit underscored the ongoing dialogue between faith-based organizations and public institutions, and the role such organizations continue to play in the social development of Curaçao.
