Selikor's collection service returns to regular schedule after backlog from strikes

Local | By Correspondent August 7, 2023

WILLEMSTAD - Selikor, the waste management company, has announced the resumption of its regular collection service starting from Monday. Following a period of strikes, the backlog of work has been successfully addressed, alleviating concerns about overflowing bins on the island.

The interruption caused by a work stoppage by Selikor's staff one and a half weeks ago led to a substantial accumulation of waste, resulting in many bins reaching full capacity. The backlog created challenges for both residents and the waste management company.

However, Selikor took swift action to mitigate the impact of the backlog. Last week, the company implemented an adjusted schedule to tackle the accumulated waste and ensure that the island's waste collection services return to normalcy.

"We understand the inconvenience that the backlog has caused for our community, and we are committed to providing reliable waste management services," stated a Selikor spokesperson. "Our team has worked diligently to address the challenges and get our collection service back on track."

With the resumption of the regular schedule, residents can expect their waste to be collected according to the usual routine, effectively managing waste disposal and contributing to the cleanliness of the island.
