Selikor resumes road cleaning activities

Local | By Correspondent November 8, 2023

WILLEMSTAD - Selikor is resuming the cleaning of Curaçao's roads. Earlier, the waste management company had halted these activities, but the government has allocated a budget to allow the work to resume.

The cleaning operations will take place on both major highways and in Bandabou (western side). They are set to commence this month, with the goal of completing most of the road cleaning by the end of the year.

The work is primarily carried out by neighborhood foundations, while the cleaning of roads in the city is entrusted to Selikor's staff.

Selikor urges the public to give workers space during the cleanup activities. Particularly on major roads, hazardous situations can arise, so the waste management service emphasizes the importance of motorists paying close attention.

It is also intended that Curaçao remains clean after the cleanup efforts. Therefore, Selikor hopes that people are aware of the island's situation, encouraging them to dispose of their waste in bins rather than on the roads or in natural areas.
