Secretary of State Gunay Uslu on a visit to the Caribbean part of the Kingdom

THE HAGUE - State Secretary for Culture Gunay Uslu will visit the Caribbean part of the Kingdom from 9 to 17 January. This is reported by the Rijksdienst Caribisch Nederland. The visit will focus on cultural cooperation, libraries and heritage.  

 

During her visit, the State Secretary wants to become acquainted with culture and heritage as widely as possible and will therefore participate in various programs. During the visit, attention will also be paid to the slavery past. On St. Eustatius, Uslu will visit the Godet Plantation to get an idea of the slavery history on the island.  

 

On Bonaire she meets the students of the Bonaire School of Performing Arts and on Curaçao there is a meeting with artists on the program. In addition, the minister will be present at the four-country consultations. The journey ends in Aruba, where Uslu visits the National Archives.  

 

Uslu recently announced an investment of several million in libraries and monuments in the Caribbean Netherlands. In the coming years, some three million euros will be spent on strengthening the library network and money will be set aside for a digital library. On Saba, the minister will visit the Queen Wilhelmina Library.
