WILLEMSTAD - The National Detective Agency has received a second complaint against Minister Silvania. Political activist Elvis de Andrade has presented evidence regarding the minister's involvement in side functions related to his positions in Finance and Health. De Andrade claims that Silvania maintained control of his businesses during the screening process, which violates the screening law for ministerial candidates.
Minister Silvania, on the other hand, asserts that he has distanced himself from his shares and divested his interests during the cabinet formation process. According to the screening law, ministers are prohibited from holding executive positions or being registered with the Chamber of Commerce to avoid any appearance of conflict of interest.
The Public Prosecutor's Office has yet to announce whether it will proceed with the complaint. This marks at least the eighth complaint filed by De Andrade against politicians for non-compliance with the screening law and alleged corruption.
