WILLEMSTAD – The Dutch Caribbean Coast Guard continues its intensive search operation for four missing Aruban fishermen lost at sea. On Tuesday morning, a Dash-8 patrol aircraft was once again deployed, flying toward the northern coast of Colombia. The search mission is being conducted with the permission of Colombian authorities, the Coast Guard confirmed in a press release.
The fishermen were first reported missing on Monday, prompting an immediate and coordinated response. Unconfirmed reports on Tuesday suggested that a life raft may have been found, but it appeared to be unoccupied.
In addition to the Dash-8 aircraft, the search involves multiple assets, including the Dutch Navy ship Zr.Ms. Friesland and a Coast Guard helicopter. According to the Coast Guard, “The units are conducting searches throughout the day and will continue into the evening hours until after sunset.”
The operation underscores the urgency and scale of the search efforts, with authorities doing everything possible to locate the missing fishermen. Families and community members in Aruba await news as the search continues over open sea.
