WILLEMSTAD, MEDELLIN – Recently, a delegation of staff from the Curaçao Detention and Correction Center (SDKK) made a working visit to the 'Carcel y Penitenciaría de Bellavista,' a prison located in Medellin, Colombia.
The purpose of this visit was informational, aimed at gaining an overview of the penitentiary system and the rehabilitation methods employed in the prison in Medellin. As part of this visit, the delegation toured the Bellavista prison, where they observed various rehabilitation programs, including sewing, shoe treatment, carpentry, bakery, agriculture, and animal husbandry. The tour concluded with a courtesy lunch hosted by the director of the Bellavista prison.
Finally, Ms. Valentijn, as the leader of the delegation, and Mr. Pinedo Bosero from SDKK, representing the Prison Management, presented a locally crafted gift from the Carpentry department in Curaçao.
Looking back, it was a successful and valuable working visit. Therefore, within the framework of this, the SDKK delegation wishes to express gratitude to our acting director, Mr. Hasselmeijer, and also to the Colombian Consul here in Curaçao for their cooperation in making this visit possible.
