SDKK Prison reopens its chapel

Local | By Press release June 20, 2023

WILLEMSTAD - The Curaçao Detention and Correction Center (SDKK) recently reopened its renovated Chapel. After a period of renovation, with the cooperation of various local churches, the prison chapel is once again accessible to all clients, regardless of their religion or denomination.

On the occasion of the Chapel's reopening, Mr. Marlon Jamanika, as the Spiritual Guide of SDKK, together with some clients, organized a program where everyone present could enjoy various talents and presentations. There were also testimonies, praises, and expressions of gratitude to God.

During this ceremony, Deputy Director Mr. Richenald Ricardo addressed the attendees. Several pastors from different denominations, both from Curaçao and the Netherlands, also spoke, and three pastors consecrated the renovated prison chapel.

The goal of the Chapel is to guide all SDKK clients in studying and living the word of God, as well as discovering talents and abilities among the clients that can be used both in prison and after their release.

The management of SDKK would like to express their gratitude to all the churches that contributed to the renovation of the Chapel, as well as to all the clients who also made a contribution to this project. They will certainly continue to prioritize the spiritual aspect within SDKK.
