Schools receive heat relief package

WILLEMSTAD - Schools are receiving an official 'heat relief package' from the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sport to combat high temperatures. The distribution took place in the presence of the School Maintenance Foundation (SOS), the management of Adventist schools, and teachers from the first schools to receive the inventory.

A previously established committee worked on a report and recommendations for the ministry regarding climate change in education and high temperatures during school hours. This committee considered aspects such as climate change and high temperatures in classrooms.

The ministry indicated that the government is providing funds for all school boards to purchase inventory such as fans, water bottles, air conditioners, and freezers to combat heat in classrooms.

Sandra Lucasiusa, head of Adventist schools, expressed her delight and thanked the school management and the government on behalf of all teachers for this temporary solution. She also emphasized looking forward to the sustainable solution promised by the government.
