"Say No to Bullying" campaign emphasized in schools across Curaçao

Local | By Press release November 11, 2024

WILLEMSTAD - The ongoing campaign against bullying and violence took center stage in schools across Curaçao last week, culminating in activities on the International Day Against Violence and Bullying on November 7. The event, led by Minister of Education, Sithree van Heydoorn, included visits to Immanuel School and Angela Jessurun School, where students and staff actively participated in promoting the message: "Stand Up, Raise Your Head, and Say No to Bullying."

During the school visits, Minister Van Heydoorn and his delegation were warmly received with unique greetings from the students. The schools held special presentations focusing on the theme of "Stop Bullying" and encouraging students to speak out against it. The activities aimed to raise awareness about the harmful effects of bullying and to empower children to resist and report such behavior.

Minister Van Heydoorn expressed heartfelt gratitude to the schools for their warm welcome and for their active role in spreading the anti-bullying message. He commended the students and staff for their efforts and urged them to continue promoting a positive environment. "Together, let’s encourage our children to stand up, raise their heads high, and say no to bullying," said the Minister.

The campaign, which ran throughout the week, is part of a broader effort to address bullying in schools and promote a culture of respect and kindness among students. The Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports emphasized its commitment to fostering a safe and supportive educational environment for all children in Curaçao.
