WILLEMSTAD - Sandals Royal Curaçao has confirmed that it will open on June 1 and will then receive its first guests. Work is still being done on the finishing touches of the luxury resort, Sandals reported.

The opening was initially supposed to take place last month, but construction has been delayed by global material shortages and problems with shipping.

The resort was bought by Sandals last year and the renovation cost $72 million.
