WILLEMSTAD - Three drivers must follow road safety training from the courts. The three were involved in traffic accidents.
They drove through a red light and one of them was under the influence of alcohol. A fine was also imposed on him. He temporarily lost his driver's license.
The Public Prosecution Service, the probation service, and Safe Traffic Curaçao have joined forces to set up this training. It consists of five sessions of two hours, in which the participants under the leadership of coaches pay attention to conduct rules in traffic, the responsibility of the road user, and the consequences of wrong driving behavior.
The training is not voluntary. If the participants do not fully participate in the training, or do not successfully complete it, they will still receive a replacement punishment.
The Public Prosecution Service says it will use this learning sentence more often as a requirement for road matters.
