WILLEMSTAD - The road markings at the Janwe roundabout will not be changed. Minister Charles Cooper of Traffic, Transport and Spatial Planning (VVRP) stated this during a recent press conference.
In recent days there has been a lot of fuss about the new street lines on the roundabout. The minister, therefore, decided to hold a press conference to explain the traffic situation. “The basics remain the same,” says Cooper. “If you have shark teeth, you should stop. All cars on the roundabout take precedence.”
Frensel Mercilia, deputy head of Public Works (OW) states that the lines help with priority regulation for the inner and outer lanes of the roundabout. “The dotted line doesn't mean you have to turn, you can drive through it,” Mercilia said.
Through the marking, Cooper hopes that claims and accidents will be avoided. The minister emphasizes that the traffic situation will remain as it is.
