THE HAGUE - The number of positive test results on the Caribbean islands fell last month compared to the previous month from 474 to 253 reports. The number of new COVID-19 related hospital admissions fell sharply. There were 21 reports, in December there were still sixty.
Curaçao reported 42 new positive test results last month, considerably less than the 118 reports in December (118). The number of new COVID-19 related hospitalizations was less than five. a sharp decrease compared to last month's seventeen.
In total, fewer than five deaths were reported in January, just like in December. In the last week of January, two per 100,000 inhabitants received a positive test result and the test positivity was two percent.
Aruba
In Aruba, 115 positive test results and no COVID-19-related deaths were reported in January. In December, another 226 covid-19 patients died. The number of COVID-19 related hospitalizations fell to eleven in January, compared to the twenty in December.
In the last week of January, ten per 100,000 inhabitants received a positive test result and the test positivity was nine percent.
St Maarten
Eleven positive test results, five COVID-19-related hospitalizations and fewer than five COVID-19-related deaths were reported in Sint Maarten in January. No ICU admissions were reported in January.
The number of positive test results fell compared to December, when there were still 36 positive cases. The number of hospital admissions also decreased compared to the previous month, from ten to five.
In the last week of January, ten per 100,000 inhabitants received a positive test result and the test positivity was thirteen percent.
Bonaire
38 COVID-19 infections were reported on Bonaire in January. On this island, too, that is considerably less than the number of reports in December, when the counter stood at 198. Fewer than five COVID-19 related hospitalizations and no related deaths were reported in January. In December there were 13 and five respectively.
In the last week of January, nine per 100,000 inhabitants received a positive test result and the test positivity in the GGD test street was 33 percent.
Saba and Statia
No positive test results were reported on St. Eustatius last month, the month before there were seven. In addition, no COVID-19 related hospitalizations or deaths were reported last month.
Less than five positive test results were reported on Saba last month, in December there were also less than five. No COVID-19 related hospitalizations or deaths have been reported.
