WILLEMSTAD - The eviction of Restaurant Nultwintig has begun following a court ruling on July 30, which ordered the restaurant's closure. The establishment had accumulated rent arrears amounting to a significant 209,000 guilders, which still need to be paid.
The court determined that Geert Jan Wittens, owner of Nultwintig, must pay 20,000 guilders each month, with payments due by the end of each month. Additionally, Wittens will also face extra charges from accrued interest, further increasing the amount owed.
On top of that, there are additional costs related to the initial court proceedings, the appeal, and legal fees for Ondine, the owner and landlord of the property located on Penstraat. These costs total 17,000 guilders.
The building must be vacated and handed over to Ondine in clean condition by September 10, six weeks after the court's decision.
