Residents of Ser’i Otrobanda Complain of Ongoing Nuisance from Docked Industrial Ship

WILLEMSTAD – For weeks, residents of Ser’i Otrobanda have been dealing with persistent foul odors and loud noise from the industrial vessel Île de Molène, which is docked at the Mathey Wharf.

Despite assurances from the Curaçao Port Authority (CPA) that measures would be taken to reduce the disturbance, residents say nothing has changed.

Locals argue that the issue could be easily resolved by relocating the vessel to a site farther away from the neighborhood. According to the Fundashon Ser’i Otrobanda (FSO), there is ample unused space on the south side of the Mathey Wharf, which could significantly lessen the impact on nearby residents.

FSO and community members are urging CPA to take immediate action, stressing that the situation continues to affect their quality of life.
