WILLEMSTAD – Residents of Koraal Partier and Sta. Catharina are once again raising concerns over environmental pollution caused by the transportation of chicken manure from Rancho to Dam Pretu. A local resident captured footage showing a truck spilling waste along the transport route, causing significant alarm within the community.
The video, which has been widely shared on social media, reveals how chicken manure is being dumped onto public roads, affecting vehicles and nearby homes. Residents claim that the business responsible for the transport is violating a court ruling issued last year, which outlined specific guidelines for the safe handling and disposal of the waste. Despite repeated complaints to the authorities, a long-term solution remains elusive.
On Monday, a group of residents contacted the Ministry of Health, Environment, and Nature (GMN) to discuss the ongoing issue. However, no formal meeting has been scheduled to address their concerns.
Residents are now urging government officials to take immediate action and enforce the laws meant to protect citizens from such environmental hazards. They stress that public health is at risk and that swift intervention is needed to prevent further contamination.
