Residents cannot return until after May 10

WILLEMSTAD - Residents of Curaçao who are abroad cannot return until at least 10 May. This was confirmed today by the Minister of Traffic and Transport Zita Jesus-Leito.

About 500 Curaçao students in the Netherlands have now signed a letter that has been sent to the governor and the government in Curaçao. With the letter, they want to draw attention to their situation.

In the Netherlands, the schools are closed, and the students want to return to Curaçao, but this is not possible due to the entry ban. That is why they ask Curaçao to make an exception for them. Jesus-Leito states that people are aware of this and that this is the focus of attention.

There are also more than 200 residents stranded in other countries such as the U.S., the Netherlands, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Venezuela, and other countries. The minister says that these people need to register through the government’s website (click here to register). These residents need to also understand that if the airports in the countries where they are now are closed, there is nothing the government can do.
