WILLEMSTAD - The customs building on the Nieuwe Haven is being renovated. Property owner Curaçao Ports Authority (CPA) has promised to do so. The intention is that the building will meet all requirements again after the renovation. During the renovation, the staff will have to be temporarily housed elsewhere. The declaration team has now moved to Punda. Temporary accommodation is being sought for the other staff.
Last Monday, customs personnel temporarily stopped work. Together with the trade unions STRAF and ABVO, they are concerned about the poor state of the building. Due to the promise of the Minister of Finance, a solution was worked on in no time.
