WILLEMSTAD - Member of Parliament Rennox Calmes (TPK) is suing for defamation against former minister Omayra Leeflang and activist Elvis de Andrade. The opposition MP says he has been wrongly accused of several things.
According to the MP, Leeflang accuses him of extortion and modern slavery in her Facebook posts. She insinuates that the party asks the employees for money and part of it ends up in Calmes' pocket. To substantiate her story, the former minister cites several figures.
De Andrade accuses Calmes of being corrupt and of taking money during his election campaign.
According to Calmes, none of these allegations are correct and he finds it a bad thing that politicians are accused of all kinds of things without evidence.
Earlier, Calmes' party was discredited because a faction employee refused to hand over part of her salary.
