WILLEMSTAD – The Project Team for Supervision and Enforcement (PTH) of the Ministry of Traffic, Transportation, and Urban Planning (VVRP) provides a summary of various recent activities. This is done with the aim of raising awareness within our community regarding safe construction practices and appropriate use of government land.
Rooi Santu
PTH conducted an inspection of a site in Rooi Santu after receiving a complaint from the owner of a house on government land who was resisting Aqualectra's maintenance work and the laying of an underground cable to reach homes further back. At the site, PTH met with the owner of the house and reached a solution to allow Aqualectra to perform the maintenance work.
In the same area, PTH inspected another plot of land after receiving complaints from neighbors that apparently filled a plot with soil to cover some stones they had placed on the site in question. On-site, PTH encountered a mound of soil covering a large quantity of stones that had been on the land. It was determined that the neighbors themselves were responsible for the dumping of stones and the filling of the land with soil. PTH documented the current situation and will continue further investigation.
Weto
PTH inspected a piece of land in the Weto area after receiving a report that unknown individuals were constructing a wall for a house. On-site, PTH communicated with a person present who indicated that it was his son who was building a fence to prevent dogs from entering and attacking the neighbor's livestock. The person indicated that he possessed the necessary land documents, and the investigation will continue.
Montague
Neighbors filed a complaint indicating that a neighbor fenced off part of their land to build a goat pen. This is in the area behind the former Bakerij de Zon. PTH went to the site, but no one was present. This case will be investigated further.
Sta Rosaweg
PTH noticed a container illegally placed on government land without permission to use the land. The responsible party was asked to remove the container immediately, and if this does not occur, PTH will have it removed at the expense of the person who placed it there.
Fortuna ariba
PTH received a notification about a dump truck dumping rocks on government land. Upon arrival at the site, the dump truck was not seen. PTH is warning everyone that illegal dumping of rocks, which is now being addressed severely in collaboration with the police.
Caracasbaai
PTH received a report that a house was being built on Caracasbaaiweg without a construction permit. Upon arrival, PTH confirmed that there was a valid construction permit in place. PTH commends all citizens who carry out construction work with the necessary permits.
In the same area of Caracasbaai, PTH inspected a piece of land in front of a restaurant. This was in response to a report that the restaurant owner had cleaned up the land in front of the restaurant and allowed his customers to park there. On-site, PTH communicated with the owner, who indicated that he indeed cleaned the land for his customers to park. The owner stated that he has a petition with Domain Management to obtain the land in question. PTH informed the owner that, until he has the title to the land, he cannot use it in any way and must leave it in its original state. He should make use of the parking space he provided along with his construction permit.
Sun Valley
After receiving a notification, PTH confirmed that illegal construction was taking place at a specific address. It was found that there was no permit for the construction. The work was halted, and the owner was directed to arrange his construction permit with ROP. It was indicated that he cannot proceed with construction until he obtains his permit.
Punda/Pietermaai
PTH found that an arch for parking was being constructed. Upon checking for the necessary permit, it was discovered that no permit was in place. The work was stopped, and the individuals involved were directed to arrange their permit from ROP before proceeding.
Rondeklip
A dispute was observed between two families who both purchased leasehold land near a third party. Both claim to be the owners. An investigation is ongoing, and both parties will be referred to Domain Management. PTH makes a serious appeal to all citizens to ensure timely payment when buying property. Always check the status of the land with Kadaster before making a purchase.
In the same area, various controls were conducted, where PTH halted several illegal construction works on government lands.
PTH is tasked with inspecting and controlling construction works and occupation of government lands, illegal dumping of rocks on government lands, and illegal gambling establishments. The team consists of inspectors responsible for the mentioned tasks. PTH will begin providing regular weekly updates with the goal of raising community awareness.
