WILLEMSTAD - In the context of addressing climate change and protecting the ecosystem in Curaçao, which is a priority for the EU, Europe Direct Curaçao, in collaboration with Green Phenix, is organizing a Beach Clean-Up on June 1, 2024, to contribute to a cleaner and more sustainable Curaçao.  

The northern coast of the island faces a significant amount of plastic washing ashore from the Caribbean Sea. As this plastic is exposed to the UV light of the sun, it breaks down into microplastics, tiny pieces harmful to both nature and humans and difficult to clean up. Therefore, it is crucial to remove the washed-up plastic as soon as possible before it fragments into smaller pieces. Hence, this beach clean-up is much needed and important.  

Europe Direct Curaçao & Green Phenix need your help to make this a success and therefore, invite you to participate in the Beach Clean-Up. The Beach Clean-Up will take place on Saturday, June 1, from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM at the Vlakte van San Pedro.
