WILLEMSTAD - The government of Curaçao has officially opened the registration for the prestigious award, the Cross of Merit for the year 2024. This award recognizes Curaçaoan citizens and organizations that have made outstanding contributions to the community. The registration period runs from March 1st to March 29th and takes place entirely online.
Every year, on Flag Day, July 2nd, the cross is awarded. This year marks the nineteenth presentation. Candidates must be over 50 years old, exhibit impeccable behavior, and contribute to the community for a minimum of five years outside their professional activities. It is essential that the impact of their efforts on the community is demonstrable.

Last year, a total of ten people received the Cross of Merit for its twentieth edition. Among them were Rose Mary Allen, Joyce Adoptie-Treurniet, and Curd Evertz. This year, a maximum of five individuals can receive the award.
