WILLEMSTAD - The rainy season on the ABC Islands officially began on Tuesday and will last until the end of January 2025. According to the Caribbean Weather Center, this year’s rainy season is expected to bring above-average rainfall to the region.
A combination of the developing La Niña phenomenon, characterized by cooler sea surface temperatures, and unusually warm sea temperatures is contributing to the forecasted increase in rainfall. October is expected to see the most significant precipitation, with wet conditions persisting throughout the season.
Experts are warning of an increased risk of flooding due to the heavier rains. The Caribbean Weather Center stated that it will continue to monitor the situation closely to keep residents and authorities informed.
