WILLEMSTAD - As part of the "Improving Government Functioning" (VFO) project, one of the actions in the implementation agenda of the Country Package is currently a quick scan of the 9 ministries of the Country of Curaçao. These quick scans primarily aim to outline the existing tasks within each ministry, organize these tasks, and provide an overview of the number of directorates within each ministry.
The guiding principles from the report "Doing Nothing Is No Longer an Option!" will be taken into account. The civil service must become more efficient, effective, and assertive. More preparation and execution capacity must be created. A better functioning government will not be achieved by simply hiring more staff. A fundamental reform of the civil service organization will need to take place, with digitization playing a central role.
The expected duration of the quick scan is 8 weeks, and it is anticipated to be completed by the end of October 2023.
