Local, | By Correspondent July 2, 2026

WILLEMSTAD – About one quarter of Curaçao’s population was born outside the island, according to CBS (Central Bureau of Statistics) Curaçao’s 2025 Social Survey.

The report states that 74.5 percent of residents were born on Curaçao, while 25.4 percent were born abroad. Curaçao’s total population stood at 156,115 on January 1, 2025.

The largest foreign-born groups come from Latin America, the Netherlands and the Caribbean. Latin America accounts for 7.8 percent of the population, followed by the Netherlands with 7.7 percent and the Caribbean region with 6.5 percent.

Residents born in the Dutch Caribbean BES islands represent 1.7 percent. Smaller groups come from Asia, Europe and North America.

CBS says Curaçao’s population structure has remained relatively stable compared with previous years, even as migration continues to shape the island’s social composition.
