WILLEMSTAD – The Public Prosecutor’s Office (OM) has reached a settlement this week with a suspect involved in a money laundering case dating back to 2021. The OM announced the agreement in an official press release.
The case involved suspicions of both intentional and habitual money laundering. Intentional money laundering refers to knowingly laundering illicit funds, while habitual money laundering indicates a repeated pattern of such activity.
As part of the settlement, the suspect paid a financial penalty and forfeited confiscated assets.
With this settlement, the OM emphasizes the importance of effectively resolving even older cases. “This arrangement helps conserve police resources and court capacity,” the OM stated.
