WILLEMSTAD - On June 26, 2024, the National Detective Agency of Curaçao (LrC) arrested three individuals, including a member of the Curaçao Parliament. Additionally, the examining magistrate conducted searches in various homes and at the parliament member’s workplace in the Parliament building, seizing items relevant to the investigation.
These arrests and searches are part of a criminal investigation into forgery. The investigation is ongoing, and further arrests or searches are not ruled out.
Official corruption undermines public trust and the authority of the government. If not addressed adequately, it can destabilize a country. The Public Prosecution Service and the National Detective Agency of Curaçao are paying close attention to this form of undermining.
