WILLEMSTAD - On 5 January 2020, a shooting incident took place on the Rooseveltweg where 22-year-old R. Bernardus lost his life.

Three suspects were arrested in connection with this case. The Public Prosecution believes that the main suspect shot Bernardus using a firearm, causing him to die.

The other two suspects were arrested in connection with their (possible) involvement in the homicide and for illegal possession of firearms.

Yesterday, the Public Prosecution Service has released the suspects. The preliminary findings from the current investigation indicate (for the time being) that the main suspect acted in self-defense, after being attacked by several people, including the victim.

The suspect has thereby, as it still looks, managed to take a firearm used by one of the aggressors and used it to kill Bernardus. The investigation continues.
