WILLEMSTAD – The public prosecutor in Curaçao has demanded a 25-year prison sentence for Jorge Provacia, also known as Alex. The 34-year-old man is accused of fatally shooting his mother-in-law at close range with eight bullets on April 4 of this year.

In addition to the murder charge, Provacia faces accusations of attempted murder on three other family members of the victim, as well as illegal possession of two firearms. The defendant has largely confessed to the charges.

Court Hearing

During the hearing, Provacia gave a detailed account of his actions, explaining the sequence of events. He told the court it was never his intention to kill anyone, but said he was driven by anger and strong emotions. He also expressed deep regret for his actions.

Verdict Pending

The court is expected to deliver its ruling on October 8.
