Probably second case of monkey pox in Curaçao

Local | By Correspondent September 13, 2022

WILLEMSTAD - Another infection with the monkeypox virus has probably been registered in Curaçao. This is reported by the Ministry of Health, Environment and Nature (GMN).

Last Friday, a person who has not traveled recently tested positive for the virus. However, the result has yet to be confirmed with a second laboratory test. This determines whether a second infection can be definitively identified on the island. Since it concerns a person who has not recently been abroad, it is likely that it is a local infection.

The potentially infected person is currently in isolation. The departments of Epidemiology and Infectious Disease Control of the public health department follow all procedures to prevent the spread of the monkeypox virus as much as possible.
