Local | By Correspondent March 13, 2025

WILLEMSTAD – Fundashon Pro Bista has been granted an additional NAƒ 72,000 subsidy to purchase assistive devices for blind and visually impaired individuals. This funding comes on top of a previously allocated NAƒ 80,000 and is specifically aimed at supporting those who work or study. A total of 14 individuals will benefit from this initiative.

The extra subsidy will be used to acquire essential tools that assist visually impaired individuals in their jobs and studies, including computer equipment and speech software. Additionally, part of the funds will be used to expedite the purchase of a testing kit, allowing other Pro Bista clients to receive personalized advice on the best assistive tools for their needs, such as white canes and digital magnifiers.

The decision to provide additional financial support follows discussions between the government and visually impaired individuals, addressing their daily challenges and the urgent need for practical assistance. This investment aims to enhance accessibility and independence for those affected, ensuring they can participate more fully in education and the workforce.
