BRUSSELS - A Belgian duo has been sentenced to 36 months in prison for drug smuggling. It concerns a man and woman who tried to get more than five kilos of cocaine from Curaçao.
The two suspects were arrested on October 3 at the airport in Brussels, where they had just landed on a flight from Curaçao. A thorough check by customs revealed that they were carrying several packs of white powder on their bodies. It soon became clear that it was cocaine.
The lawyer asked for community service or a suspended prison sentence for both suspects. In the end, the man received half of the suspended prison sentence, and the woman received two-thirds of the prison sentence.
