Prison ends mandatory face masks for visitors

Local | By Correspondent February 14, 2024

WILLEMSTAD - The management of the SDKK prison announced today that starting tomorrow, visitors will have the option to wear face masks or not when visiting friends or family members. On January 9, face coverings were made mandatory due to the increased cases of Covid-19 and flu infections on the island. However, according to the prison authorities, the infection rates have decreased significantly, making the mandatory use of face masks unnecessary.

SDKK was the first institution this year to enforce the wearing of face masks, with other organizations following suit. Presently, it appears that face masks are no longer mandatory anywhere on Curaçao. Indeed, the number of infections has decreased in recent weeks.
