ORANJESTAD - At the end of her trip to Curaçao and Aruba, Princess Beatrix expressed the hope that her granddaughter Princess Amalia develops the same love for the Caribbean part of the Netherlands as herself.

The 85-year-old Beatrix, reflecting on her visit, shared her enthusiasm for Amalia's previous trip with King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima to the Caribbean.

She talked about the photos and stories she had seen and heard, indicating that Amalia had a good time. According to the princess, this is essential for building a connection and a sense of the islands.

Beatrix expressed her confidence that Amalia will develop this bond, given her easy-going nature in connecting with Caribbean culture and people.

Amalia had previously noted, after her own trip, that Beatrix was somewhat 'jealous' of her adventure in the Caribbean. She also noticed how beloved her grandmother is among the islanders, given the many requests she received to convey greetings to Beatrix.

This conversation emphasizes the ongoing and warm relationship between the Dutch royal family and the Caribbean, a bond that seems to pass from generation to generation.
