WILLEMSTAD - Curaçao's Prime Minister, Gilmar Pisas, held several sessions on Sunday with retirees from the Isla Refinery to explain the upcoming payments they will receive. Earlier this year, Pisas had promised to resolve the outstanding payments before the end of 2024, and he expressed satisfaction in fulfilling this commitment. According to the government, the retirees present at the meetings also expressed their gratitude for Pisas' efforts.
The retirees are set to receive their payments in the coming days, bringing relief to many who had been waiting for years.
In his remarks, Pisas noted that, "despite all the setbacks," he left no stone unturned in finding a practical solution to ensure that these payments could finally be processed. The APRI and PWFC unions played a key role in the process, offering the PWFC building to hold the sessions in a calm and organized manner. Both unions emphasized that they never stopped working towards the goal of ensuring that retirees received the payments they were owed.
